Three Killed in Iraqi Protests of Iran

Many Iraqis have expressed frustration with growing poverty and too much political influence from Iran. They believe that the country’s elite is allowing poverty despite significant oil wealth. And, they think that this elite is either obedient to Iran or the US.

Over the last month protesters have gone to the streets. In the latest protest, last night they attacked the Iranian consulate of Karbala by throwing stones and burning tires around the building. Security forces fired in the air and released volleys of tear gas. Three protesters were killed overnight bringing the total to over 250 people who have died during the month.
