Post Malone Biggest Winner at The Billboard Awards

It was supposed to happen back in April, but the no-attendance Billboard Awards happened this week with host Kelly Clarkson opening the show by performing Steve Winwood’s “Higher Love.”

Billie Eilish Urges Fans to Vote and Wear Masks

Billie Eilish accepted the Top Female Artist award at the Billboard Music Awards on Wednesday night, October 14, 2020. As she accepted her award, she urged fans to “Please vote, please wear a mask, please wash your hands. Be safe. Take care.”

Eilish also won for the Top Billboard 200 Album for When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? Nicole Richie presented the 18-year-old hit wonder with the album award.

When accepting her album prize at the ceremony at Los Angeles’ Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, she said, “I wanted to say, thank you to the fans, thank you for believing in me and caring about me still, I don’t know why you do. I also want to say that I never, ever take these for granted. It is always a shock when I win anything at all.”

Post Malone Was the Night’s Biggest Winner

With nine prizes, Post Malone was the night’s biggest winner. He took home the Top Artist award, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, and the Top Hot 100 Artist. He was “floored” by the peer recognition, taking the award from competitors Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, Jonas Brothers and Khalid.

Malone’s response to the awards was sincere, “I’m honestly blown away, just by the love that everybody has shown to me, and honestly, I appreciate it more than I could ever express and it’s kind of a big deal for me, you know, and everybody involved because we work … we work our a**** off.”

Pink Thanks Touring Crew and Fans

Top Touring Artist went to Pink. On Twitter, the —— star tweeted, “HUGE thanks to @BBMAs for the touring award but most of my gratitude goes to MY TOURING CREW/FAMILY and TO ALL OF THE AMAZING PEOPLE THAT CAME TO SEE OUR SHOWS. It is your energy that makes it all happen. I MISS LIVE MUSIC (sic)”

Khalid Recognized as Top R&B Talent

Khalid took home prizes for Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Male Artist, and Top R&B Tour. His album Free Spirit won Top R&B Album, and his single “Talk” won Top R&B Song.

Jonas Brothers Win Top Duo/Group

Radio play awards recognized the Jonas Brothers. Besides Top Duo/Group, the band took home awards Top Radio Songs Artist, Top Radio Song for “Sucker.”

Country Rap Song “Old Town Road” Remix Wins Most Prized Award

Lil Nas X’s remix of “Old Town Road” featuring country singer Billy Ray Cyrus was released in April 2019. Lil Nas X’s debut album 7 included both the original and the remix of the song. The song also took home Top Streaming Song and Top Rap Song.

Cardi B won Top Rap Female Artist while Lizzo won Top Song Sales Artist.

John Legend Dedicates Song To His Wife
