President Trump’s niece, Mary Trump, has written a damning family history. The book claims “a nightmare of traumas, destructive relationships, and a tragic combination of neglect and abuse.” Other allegations include Trump’s involvement in “fraudulent” tax schemes and that he received over $400 million, adjusted for inflation, from his father’s real estate empire.

On Tuesday, a Dutchess County judge temporarily blocked publication of the book until a July 10th hearing. The hearing will determined whether the book violates a confidentiality agreement Ms. Trump signed may years ago that involved a dispute over the President’s father’s estate.

The judge was acting in response to court action brought against Ms. Trump and the book’s publisher, Simon & Schuster, by Robert S. Trump, the President’s brother.

“We look forward to vigorously litigating this case, and will seek the maximum remedies available by law for the enormous damages caused by Mary Trump’s breach of contract and Simon & Schuster’s intentional interference with that contract,” said Robert’s lawyer Mr. Harder. “Short of corrective action to immediately cease their egregious conduct, we will pursue this case to the very end.”

A lawyer for Ms. Trump, Theodore J. Boutrous, has pledged to appeal the decision. “The trial court’s temporary restraining order is only temporary, but it still is a prior restraint on core political speech that flatly violates the First Amendment,” Mr. Boutrous said. “We will immediately appeal. This book, which addresses matters of great public concern and importance about a sitting president in an election year, should not be suppressed even for one day.”
