Thanks to the ban on large gatherings in many cities, movie theaters are empty. What will happen to all those new releases that were supposed to come out? NBCUniversal has decided it is a better option to release selected new movies online for customers to stream. Four movies are in the line right now: Trolls World Tour, The Hunt, The Invisible Man, and Emma. If you have on-demand services such as Amazon Prime or iTunes, you’ll be able to buy these movies for $19.99 and watch them during a 48 hour window.

Three highly anticipated movies, Mulan, A Quiet Place 2, and No Time to Die, have been postponed for release in theaters after the crisis passes.

Usually, there is a 90-day period between the time a film leaves theaters and the time it appears on streaming services. But in moments like these, production companies are founding ways to or experimenting with ways to release their movies and maybe make some money or at least recoup their losses. Unfortunately, for movie theaters, we may see many of them go the way of the dinosaurs and Blockbuster.
