According to sources from the NFL Network and other media outlets, the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens are both interested in signing the troubled, yet talented wide receiver, Antonio Brown.
Brown To The Seahawks?
Brown has been engaging in offseason workouts with Seahawks backup quarterback Geno Smith. Reports suggest that Seattle is “absolutely interested” in making him an addition to the team. Pete Carroll is not afraid of making a risky move, nor is he afraid of dealing with a challenging personality.
Brown To The Ravens?
As for the Ravens, sources note that they have checked in on Brown in the past. Apparently, they are now “mulling over” the possibility of bringing him in. Antonio Brown would be an electric option for Lamar Jackson and the Ravens fast-paced offensive attack. It is worth noting that Brown’s cousin, Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, plays for Baltimore.
A Troubled Man
Brown played one game for the New England Patriots in 2019. He logged four catches for 56 yards and a touchdown in the Patriots’ week-2 win over the Miami Dolphins. Then past assault allegations surfaced.
The 31-year-old was supposed to play out the season with the Oakland Raiders, but a series of incidents in training camp led to Brown requesting a release from the club just before the regular season began.
Brown was involved in more off-the-field incidents earlier this offseason. Notably, when he allegedly assaulted a moving truck driver outside of his home in Hollywood, Florida. The seven-time Pro Bowler pleaded no contest to the charges on June 12 and was given a two-year sentence on probation. He must also complete 100-hours of community service, take part in a 13-week anger management program and undergo a psychological evaluation.
Brown’s off the field issues aside, he’s one of the best wide receivers of this generation and certainly can still bring incredible on-field value to a football team. Will Brown be playing football in 2020? Right now, that is as good of a question as “will there be football in 2020?”
